IKORODU CHAMBER OF COMMERCE & INDUSTRY HOLDS 6TH AGM, CHIEF OLORUNTELE ODULOYE, ELECTED AS NEW PRESIDENT

The Ikorodu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) held its 6th Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Gbadamosi Conference Room in the Ikorodu Ultra-Modern Town Hall, marking a significant moment in the organization’s history.
The meeting was highlighted by a reflective review of the past year’s accomplishments and the setting of forward-looking goals that would guide the Chamber’s future endeavours.
The AGM commenced with Opening Remarks by the outgoing President, Sir (Engr.) Chief R.O. Shoderu, who expressed gratitude to the members for their support during his tenure.
Following this, the minutes from the previous AGM held on Tuesday, 29th August 2023, were read, considered, and adopted. The assembly also took time to address matters arising from the previous minutes.
Mr. Micheal Adekoya, ICCI’s director general, delivered a comprehensive report on the Chamber’s accomplishments, challenges, and future outlook.
He extended his gratitude to the Chamber’s leadership and members for their unwavering support during a year defined by economic difficulties, including inflation and the removal of the fuel subsidy.
Despite these challenges, ICCI achieved notable progress, such as hosting important events, forming strategic partnerships, and expanding its digital presence.
Mr. Adekoya also addressed ongoing obstacles like economic pressures and resource constraints while outlining future goals, including strengthening partnerships, advancing digital infrastructure, and advocating for business-friendly policies.
He urged members to maintain their resilience and innovation in overcoming these challenges.
The outgoing president, Chief R.O. Shoderu, in his official address, expressed sincere gratitude to those who supported his administration, recognizing the collective efforts that fueled the Chamber’s growth.
He reviewed the Chamber’s key achievements over the past two years, including its enhanced role in Ikorodu’s business community, the successful relocation of the Secretariat, and ongoing efforts to secure land for a new Chamber House.
Major activities included preparations for the 2024 IKODIV Trade Fair, hosting the inaugural Commodities Expo, the 18th Business Luncheon, active participation in national business forums, and the formation of a Cooperative Society.
As his term concluded, Chief Shoderu called for continued support for the Chamber and voiced confidence in the new administration’s ability to build on his achievements.
Following the presentation of the detailed statement of accounts for the year 2023/2024, Mr. Kolawole Fatai, Treasurer of the ICCI, praised Mr. Samson Disu for his comprehensive audit report.
The report provided a thorough overview of the Chamber’s activities under the outgoing executives.
The event’s highlight was the presentation and approval of the Proposal for the Slating of Executive Positions for 2024-2026, marking a new phase in the Chamber’s leadership.
The meticulously crafted proposal, which aims to ensure continuity and dynamism, was unanimously approved by the members.
The new executive team will lead the Chamber through the 2024-2026 term, with an official installation.
Chief Oloruntele Oduloye, JP will serve as president, supported by Engr. Lukman Erogbogbo as 1st Deputy President and Prince Seye Adedipe, FCA as 2nd Deputy President.
Key positions include Barr. T. A. Ojedokun as Legal Adviser, Alhaja Mrs. Adeola Rotinwa as 1st Vice President, and Mr. Abraham A. Balogun as 2nd Vice President.
Sir (Engr.) Chief R. O. Shoderu will be Immediate Past President, with Prof. Emeritus K. Ade Wahab, Engr. H. O. B. Lawal, and Barr. Prince Jamiu Adio Saka as Hon. Life Vice-Presidents. Mr. Kolawole Fatai will serve as treasurer, assisted by Mr. Salami Fatai as Deputy Treasurer and Mr. F. Adekola Ewunuga as Financial Secretary.
Barr. T. A. Ojedokun will be Legal Adviser, with Dr. Samson Disu, FCA as Auditor.
The Public Relations Office will be led by Alh. Mukaila Afolabi, and Ex-Officio members Mrs. Stella Akande, Chief Asipa Kaoli Olusanya, Hon. Ganiyu O. Abiru, Alhaja M. O. Oduloye, Mrs. Folake Jaiyeoba, Mrs. Helen T. Ogedengbe (ICCI WCCIMA Coordinator) and Alhaja Zainab Alogba will provide additional expertise and guidance.
The newly elected president, Chief Oloruntele Oduloye, expressed his gratitude in a brief appreciation statement.
He thanked the outgoing executive for their confidence in his leadership and assured a progressive transformation for the ICCI.
Chief Oduloye urged members to work together to achieve the Chamber’s objectives as he begins his tenure.
“The new leadership is expected to bring fresh perspectives and renewed energy, continuing the efforts of their predecessors to support business interests in Ikorodu, ” he added.
Notable figures at the AGM included Engr. Lukman Erogbogbo, Prof. Emeritus K. Ade Wahab, and Mr. Kolawole Fatai, whose presence lent significant weight to the discussions and decisions.
Also, in attendance were Dr. Samson Disu, Alh. Mukaila Afolabi, Mrs. Stella Akande, Alhaja M. O. Oduloye, Mrs. Folake Jaiyeoba, Mrs. Helen T. Ogedengbe and Alhaja Zainab Alogba, each of whom contributed to the event’s success.
